In Sachen Palliative Care ist Nelly Simmen eine Frau der ersten Stunde. Als junge Pflegefachfrau begegnete sie der Palliative Care zum ersten Mal in einem Spital in Morges. Und war begeistert. Bald baute sie in einem Berner Krankenhaus eine Palliativstation auf, die sie während 20 Jahren leitete. Heute ist Nelly Simmen selbständig tätig in der Palliative Care Bildung, Beratung und Projektbegleitung. Die Begeisterung ist geblieben und im Gespräch spürbar ansteckend.
